Production information[]
"Through The Night" was chosen over several candidate songs for the opening. Takehiko Itō and Sunrise wanted a song that hadn't been used in an anime, then currently on the air, and that the theme should feature male vocals as opposed to female.[2] Arimachi wrote the song to resemble a story, took into account its long-term impact, and felt it fit Outlaw Star perfectly.[2]

- The cover for the single features artwork drawn by series creator Takehiko Itō.
- In the opening, the scene with Melfina, Aisha Clan-Clan, and Suzuka on bed changes after episode 13 to a different, less stand-offish pose, indicating that the group have grown closer together.
- Animation director Asako Nishida stated that the opening animation, featuring scenes where shadows on characters are stylized in near-black, was inspired by Mike Mignola's Hellboy comic series, which was very popular among artists at the time[3][4].
